7 Things To Do To Avoid Being Taken Advantage Of
-
Insist on a contract. Check out one of our sample contracts here.
-
Speak up- Make your needs clear.
-
Correct any pay mistakes
-
Ask the parents to be respectful of your time if they are habitually late.
-
Set boundaries. You aren’t a therapist, chef, and or personal assistant. Be clear about that upfront.
-
If asked to do something that you haven't agreed to do SPEAK up the very first time. The parents will likely be taken aback but it will put the behavior to a stop before it even begins.
-
Do your job and do it well. Make sure to consistently take care of your responsibilities. Don't ask for extra days late, be on time, stay off your phone. This way there is no "excuse" for parents to try and take advantage.
